Terms of Service

Effective date: September 27, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and HomeworkCollab about your use of HomeworkCollab. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use HomeworkCollab.

1. Who can use HomeworkCollab

  • You must be at least 13 years old.
  • If you're under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you may only use HomeworkCollab with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms on your behalf.
  • You may not use HomeworkCollab if your account has been banned.

2. Your account

  • Give accurate information, and keep your password secret. Accounts are for one person only.
  • You're responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at contact@hwcollab.site if you think someone else is using it.
  • Don't choose a username that impersonates another person, a teacher, or the site's staff.

3. How the site works

HomeworkCollab is mainly a space for students to work through homework together. Teacher accounts are approved by the site admin. They can create classes, add assignments, and share resources in a class sidebar, but they can't see student threads or study groups. The site admin can see all content in order to moderate the service.

4. Academic honesty

HomeworkCollab is for learning together, not for doing someone else's work. You're responsible for following your school's and teachers' rules on collaboration. In particular, don't share answers to tests, quizzes or other graded work while it's being taken, and don't complete graded work for someone else. We may remove content that clearly breaks this rule.

5. Your content

  • You keep ownership of what you post.
  • You give us permission to store, display and send your content to the people who have access to it on HomeworkCollab (for example, members of your class), only so that we can run the service. This permission ends when the content is deleted, except as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Only post content you have the right to share. You're responsible for your content and for any consequences of posting it.

6. Things you must not do

  • Harass, bully, threaten or intimidate anyone, or post hateful or discriminatory content.
  • Post sexual, violent, or otherwise inappropriate content, especially anything that could harm minors.
  • Share anyone's personal information (address, phone number, photos, passwords) without their permission.
  • Post spam, advertising, scams, malware, or links to harmful websites.
  • Post content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights.
  • Impersonate another person, a teacher, or site staff.
  • Try to get into classes, groups or accounts you don't have access to. This includes guessing join codes, getting around security or rate limits, scraping, or overloading the site.
  • Share a class's join code publicly or with people who shouldn't be in the class.
  • Use HomeworkCollab for anything illegal.

7. Reporting and moderation

Use the Report button on any message, post, assignment or resource to flag a problem. Reports go to the site admin, who can remove content and suspend or ban accounts that break these terms. We may do this without notice, but we're not obligated to monitor everything posted, and we're not responsible for content posted by users.

8. Copyright

We respond to notices of copyright infringement. See our Copyright & DMCA policy.

9. Outside links

Members can share links to other websites. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or privacy practices.

10. Availability and changes

HomeworkCollab is currently free to use. We may change, pause or stop any part of the service at any time, and we don't guarantee it will always be available or free of errors. Keep your own copies of anything important.

11. Disclaimer

HomeworkCollab is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Content posted by users, including answers, explanations and resources, may be wrong. Always check with your teacher and your own course materials.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HomeworkCollab will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, grades, or opportunities, arising from your use of HomeworkCollab or content posted by other users. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

13. Ending your use

You can stop using HomeworkCollab and delete your account at any time from your Account page. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms or put other users at risk.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, except where the law of your home country or state requires otherwise.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the effective date above, and for significant changes we'll let users know on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use HomeworkCollab after that means you accept the updated terms.
