Copyright & DMCA Policy

HomeworkCollab respects intellectual property rights and expects users to do the same. Only post images, documents and other material you have the right to share.

1. Reporting content on HomeworkCollab

If you're signed in and can see the content, the quickest way is the Report button next to it. Choose “Copyright infringement” and describe the work you believe is being infringed. The site admin reviews every report.

2. Formal copyright notices (DMCA)

Copyright owners, or people authorized to act for them, can also send a written notice by email to contact@hwcollab.site with the subject line “Copyright notice”.

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), your notice must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed.
  3. A description of the material you believe is infringing, with enough detail for us to find it (for example, the class and the post or message).
  4. Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

When we receive a valid notice, we'll remove or disable access to the material and make a reasonable effort to notify the user who posted it. Knowingly false claims can create legal liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).

3. Counter-notices

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address that includes:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. A description of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you're outside the U.S., any judicial district where we may be found), and that you'll accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.

After a valid counter-notice, we may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days unless the original complainant tells us they've filed a court action.

4. Repeat infringers

We will, in appropriate circumstances, suspend or permanently ban the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe others' copyrights.
